About Me
My name is Emily, and I live in the northeast of the United States of America, Massachusetts to be exact. I grew up in a small town about 20 miles north of Boston and it was boring. The most exciting place to hang out on a weekend was in the CVS parking lot. I have two brothers, one is older and one is my twin. People ask me all the time if I like being a twin, and I do for the most part. So don’t ask me again. This town has nothing left for me and I want to move to a city. I don’t talk to anyone I graduated high school with (except for my brother) and don’t really want to. They were all (for the most part) idiots anyways.
I graduated college in May 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature and Theatre Arts. I worked at the regional theatre where I wrote articles, radio ads and press releases about next season’s plays. This summer I have a job at another local theatre company doing the same things essentially. I am also a free lance stage manager and will be managing productions up until the new year.
I love to read and love the older classical authors that I’ve studied in school such as Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne. More contemporary authors that I love are Jodi Picoult and Stephenie Meyer. Now that I have graduated college I am embarking on my first novel. I hope it’s going to be a wild ride because nothing makes me happier than words and imagination.
Along with reading, I also love music. My taste is very diverse and eccentric. As a teenager I loved pop, but now, I find it mostly annoying. Still, the Backstreet Boys are probably still one of my all time favorites. Other favorites are Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Oasis, Arcade Fire, Bryan Adams, Radiohead, Jack Johnson, John Mayer, 30 Seconds To Mars, Arctic Monkeys, Rooney, Muse and many others. My friends have been forcing me to listen to country music as of late and I don’t hate it as much as I used to. Yes, hell has frozen over.
I absolutely love movies. I go to the cinema at least once a month. I just can’t pick one favorite, but my favorite genre is fantasy/action. Some of my favorite movies are Pan’s Labyrinth, Willow, Legend, The Goonies, Labyrinth, Juno, Con Air, Charlie Bartlett, Across The Universe, The Day After Tomorrow, Hook, The Princess Bride, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Martian Child, X-Men, Zodiac, Iron Man and so many more!
Another passion that takes up a large portion of my life, especially in summer is baseball. Hailing from Boston, my favorite team (naturally) are the Boston Red Sox, with Josh Beckett being my favorite player. My second favorite team are the Chicago Cubs, and yes it’s okay to have two favorite teams because they both hail from different leagues. I would love to see a Cubs/Sox World Series, and hopefully I will in my lifetime. Don’t strike up a conversation about baseball with me if you don’t plan on talking to me for a large amount of time because I will talk your ear off.
